This calendar keeps track of our complicated medication dosages and schedule. I can tell my body is reacting to the hormones. I am overly sensitive, and I recently noticed excess hair growing on my stomach. I am immersed in the fertility process and I have fallen behind on other life tasks like returning phone calls, exercising, and doing dishes.

A week ago, my grandfather told me to not let the doctors turn me in to “Octomom.” His comment made me feel like a freak and showed a complete misunderstanding of the process we are going through. Today, his wife asked Mike if the hormones have turned me into “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.” I know she was kidding, but the joke was rude and hit too close to home. Other people have made insensitive comments to me, but insults from my family sting a little deeper. I won’t return their phone calls for a while.
