The social exploration of people as art excites me. From birth, we are fascinated by our own images and the images of other babies. As adults we continue to want to know more about ourselves and other people. Many Americans place importance on introspection, self-revelation, and creating a self-image that is portrayed to the world. American enthusiasm for therapists, talk shows, and emotion-regulating medications are all examples of individuals trying to better understand and live with themselves and those around them. Reflecting on and creating work about individuals, groups, and relationships is relevant to the modern world we are living in. People are interesting and people are interested in learning about other people. In my work, I use a variety of media to tell stories about myself, other individuals, groups, and cultures.
I am also interested in contributing to the depletion of art-world-angst through the creation of humorous, clever, and/or lighthearted work. I like to have fun making art and I want my viewers to have fun experiencing the objects and images I create.
